About Me
Julie Quimby is a licensed psychologist who earned her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Julie began her career as a psychology professor at Towson University in Maryland, where she trained and supervised master's students in counseling and clinical psychology, taught courses in Ethics, Counseling Techniques and Theories, and served on the Editorial Boards for the Journal of Counseling Psychology and the Journal of Career Development. She earned tenure in 2006 and became the Director of the Counseling Psychology Master's Program. Dr. Quimby relocated to Maine in 2008 and she taught at Bowdoin College for several years while establishing her private practice. In 2016, Julie founded a group practice, Psychology Specialists of Maine, where she is the director and lead couples therapist, committed to expanding outpatient behavioral health services, developing outreach workshops, and providing continuing education programs.
